What began over thirty years ago in a box of 35mm slides has developed into a collection of over 200,000 by the early 2000s. Led by the demand for digital media in the classroom, the formerly known Art Image Library began its transition in visual resources.

Today, we hold the largest collection of digital images on campus with 60,000 and growing. Our expertise in visual and database management play an important role in inter-library and campus collaboration.

The Visual Resources Center an active unit within the Digital Library Initiatives and Scholarly Program, supports the creation, access management, and preservation of unique digital materials.

Mission
Our mission is to educate and inform a deeper understanding of fine art and art objects through an in depth exploration of our digital collection and research databases for digital discovery. The VRC provides students and faculty with effective access to digital art images and image technology training in order to support curriculum needs and promote critical visually literacy skills.
